About The Destination:

Nestled between the Aberdare Mountains and the snow-capped peak of Mount Kenya lies the 360 sq km Ol Pejeta Conservancy, a renowned wildlife sanctuary and non-profit organization.

This iconic conservancy is home to the Big Five – lions, elephants, buffaloes, leopards, and both black and white rhinos – as well as a unique sanctuary for rescued chimpanzees.

By generating income through wildlife tourism, Ol Pejeta supports both conservation efforts and community development initiatives.

Ol Pejeta Conservancy is a non-profit wildlife sanctuary dedicated to conserving wildlife, providing a safe haven for rescued chimpanzees, and promoting sustainable tourism.

The conservancy is home to the Big Five – endangered black and white rhinos, lions, elephants, buffaloes, and leopards – while generating income through tourism to support conservation efforts and community development initiatives.

The Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary, Kenya’s only haven for this endangered species, was established in 1993. It began with three chimpanzees rescued from Burundi’s civil war and has since grown, providing a safe refuge for more chimps rescued from dire situations.

Each arrival is given a name, such as Bahati, Ali Kaka, Alley, Jojo, and Eva, among others.
